Why Beyond The Grade exists.
“I didn’t begin tutoring because learning always came naturally to me. I began because I once needed that support myself.”
During secondary school, I was fortunate to have a wonderful tutor who was also a researcher at King’s College London. He didn’t simply teach me what to revise—his techniques transformed the way I understood and approached learning.
For the first time, I wasn’t just memorising information. I understood what I was doing, why it worked and how to learn independently. That foundation stayed with me throughout my academic journey and continues to shape the way I teach today.
Beyond The Grade was created to give students that same opportunity. I want them to experience the difference that the right explanation, method and encouragement can make—not only to their grades, but to their confidence and relationship with learning.
Supporting students who are genuinely invested in their progress is something that feeds my soul. There is nothing more rewarding than watching confusion turn into understanding and helping a student recognise what they are capable of.
